Having painted this picture as Christmas drew near, I reflected on the contrast between what Christmas is today and what the awesome mystery of God becoming man means.
I chose a simple composition, unadorned and tranquil, to depict Mary, the Jewish teenage mother, contemplating her child, whom she is told “is Christ the Lord”.
This year, amid the tinsel, Christmas lights, gifts and parties, take time to ponder…
