The Loss of Jesus in Jerusalem

When Mary and Joseph could not find Jesus in Jerusalem, they suffered great anguish. And when they did find him, He asked, "Why were you searching for Me?"  The answer to that question was obvious, and so the meaning of it must have been deeper,  as Mary shows by pondering it.

Throughout the centuries, God's  faithful saints have at times felt as though they lost Him. This is known as the 'dark night of the soul'. At such desolate  times, their enduring love for Him made them grow in holiness.

In times of dryness, when we no longer feel God's sweet presence, we must persist in searching and walking His way of love even through the darkness, for it is then that we are entering into the mystery that is God. Our dark road He sees paved in gold.
