Angels

Every person on earth, Christian or not, has been given a guardian angel. Every church has an angel as is evident in the book of Revelation. Would the family, as a domestic church, be given an angel too? The angel of Portugal was revealed in Fatima proving that countries have guardian angels as well. Would cities also have theirs? We have angels watching over us, as individuals, and in groups within groups, and within nations; layers of angels given for our protection.

Tradition tells us there are nine choirs of angels; three spheres of three orders each. The first sphere is to serve and minister to God and includes the seraphim, cherubim and thrones. The second sphere down is to govern the Cosmos and supervise the order of the world. They are the dominions, virtues and powers. The third sphere is made up of messengers that guide and protect human beings. These are the principalities, archangels and guardian angels.

In the incarnation God did not unite Himself to any of the angels but rather became man and by doing so, he has elevated fallen mankind. As far above us as the angels are while we are on earth, people who make it to heaven will be raised higher than the seraphim. We will be united to God Himself.
