Mary, the handmaid of the Lord, is shown here within the triad of the Father (eye), the Son, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit (dove). She is the highly favored daughter of the Father, the spouse of the Holy Spirit and the mother of the Son, Christ our Savior.
The maid in the Trinity is a model for us who are also made in the Trinity. We are all children of the Father who creates and sustains us. We are espoused to the Holy Spirit who lives in intimacy within us through Baptism. We are mother, brother and sister to Jesus by our doing the will of the Father; therefore allowing the Holy Spirit to transform us into another version of Jesus.
In transforming, we become contagious to our brothers and sisters who, in turn, are likewise made replicas of Jesus. Together, we make the one Mystical Body of Christ, and as Christ, we call Mary our mother too.
Like Mary, we are made in the Trinity. May our ‘yes’ in imitation of her also bring us to full absorption into the life of the Holy Trinity.
